Note links open wrong note

Since some versions very often note links open wrong notes. In many cases when clicking on a note link (internal link) always the note with the earliest creation date is opened but not the linked note. However, the link in the backlinks list is working. Annoying.

I have created a search request with Evernote Support. I hope, they can find the reason. By the way, it happens in the Mac as well as the Web clients.

NO, the problem is not solved with 10.103.3!

I have over 30.000 notes. When I click on newer internal links, they work. When I click on older internal links, they don't work. It's a disaster.

Well, I have fewer notes and I just tried links that are more than 10 years old, and they worked without problem. Maybe the problem also involved the database. In that case, it might take some time until all links work. If not, you should report it to the Evernote support.

I have reported it to EN. They say that the problem was solved with 10.103.3. But it isn't. With command + click on the internal link it works (in a new window). But not with clicking on the internal link directly.

Out of other discussions I see that there is a problem, if there is a huge amount of notes...

To be more specific I think it is the number of notes in a particular notebook rather than the total number of notes. I organise by tagging and have all my 6.5k notes in a single notebook. I am seriously considering splitting that notebook up, 100 notes at a time.

Most of my over 30k notes are in one notebook… Splitting them up in notebooks with only 100 notes each would mean that I had to make 300 new notebooks… No, I won‘t do that. EN has to fix that. It‘d EN‘s responsibility!

@HSM, I suggest you read @Mike P's response again.  He wasn't suggesting that notebooks could only have 100 notes, only that the move process is limited to moving 100 notes at a time.

See his recent post on another thread for more detail.

I started having the same problem today. (I think after an update). Reinstalling and deleting all the data didnt help.
I wonder if going back to an older version is possible. Tried creating some new links, but that also only takes me to the last note in the list.

Has made the system I had working, unsuable, so I hope a fix comes soon.

Even with 10.104.2 there is still no solution. It really takes too long. I have the feeling that our concerns are not really being taken seriously.

I’m having the same issue as Stuhrer on mac desktop – even now after updating to 10.104.2

Newly added internal links are not working. When clicking them, EN seems to be busy for a couple of seconds and then jumps to the newest note in the active notebook. The backlinks in the same notes seem to work correct, though.

I too am experiencing this issue. Initially saw it using the WebApp, subsequently noticed it in Windows App, both for newly created and older existing links. This suggests to me it goes deeper than a platform specific bug. Has Evernote addressed this issue with a statement of the underlying cause? In particular, do we know that this is not permanent data corruption? I have many thousands of internal links, it is how I use EN.

10.104.3 brings certain changes. It's on the way.

BUT there are still heavy problems with links to other notes.

A click on a note link only leads to the correct target note, if there is not the note list between sidebar and note.
If there is the note list between sidebar and note the click on a note link leads to nowhere. Then I remain in the same note.

And: It works correctly with weblinks. It does not work correctly - as I described it above - with internal links. That's an old, old problem...

Please, please, EN, HELP! It's so sad. Clicking Command + link works. But why not by only clicking the link?

Sorry, I can't replicate this in 10.104.3 (Windows). Links work 95% of the time, even from within a filtered list, and when they don't work clicking the link again seems to work. I'm seeing no difference between the behaviour of web styles links and internal links. I do now only have notebooks with <500 notes which already solved some of my problems but links from filtered lists did not wotk until 10.104.3
