Trilln451 6
I've been using the free version for years. Today when I went to look a a note, I couldn't get past the pop-up urging me to subscribe to the paid version. I hadn't heard they're getting RID of the free version, tried going to the web page, same problem. I'm loggin from my computer next, so I can download my notes & delete my account. 1 Link to comment
Evernote Expert agsteele 3,055 Posted August 7 Evernote Expert Share Posted August 7 The message you saw relates to the new device limits for free users. Unless you follow the instructions you will be stuck logging in on any device. Free remains. Take a look at the Evernote blog for more details... https://evernote.com/blog/free-limit-changes-august-2024 Link to comment

Solution Trilln451 6 Posted August 7 Author Solution Share Posted August 7 Thank you. I did find a workaround - after fearing id deleted ALL my devices (one at a time - followed instructions without knowing the full story). But the problem was, even complying with "one device" Evernote wouldn't let me close the big window saying 'continue with monthly' or '40% off yearly'. I finally installed it in my laptop, had the same problem, but found I could go to Tools, open that, close it, & the window was gone & I could access my notebooks. I'll go to your link there to see what I can learn. Thanks! 1 Link to comment
Trilln451 6
I followed the link,& yes, that's the information I found when I went to their Twitter page. It doesn't appear to address the fact that I kept getting blocked from accessing my notes on my phone, even after eliminating access via the web version. That subscription box kept blocking me. When I saw it yesterday, it seemed like you just had to hit the go back button a few times, & it would stop popping up, but today it was persistent. And of course Evernote has that rule that you can only remove access twice in one month, so I thought, after installing it on my laptop & removing web access, that if I could get access on my LAPTOP (because of the pop-up box) I was going to be SOL till September. So I was mighty relieved to find a workaround. Link to comment
nealdc 0
I just posted the error subscription promo message that blocks my being able to access my notes on the only 1 single device I have ever used. On Mon 8/5, I accessed my notes. On Tuesday 8/6 this message blocked my ability to access any of my notes on the Samsung Android Galaxy S 21 mobile phone I use for the app. I only use the app. I only use 1 device. I have never used more than 1 device. I only want to access and read the notes I have made for several years, which until this promo display blocked me from doing. Is there anyone who can help me? Does Evernote help users with a simple free account. I am not over limit. That is meaningless as I have not added one thing in months or even years. I am a benign user and have no interest in over using the free account, but I CANNOT ACCESS ANY OF MY NOTES ON THE 1 SINGLE DEVICE I HAVE ALWAYS USED WHICH IS THE MOBILE APP. Is there anyone here or at Evernote that can or would help me. It appears that this promo may be a hack and for sure I do not want to offer my credit card for a free account to a hacker who will abuse my credit card. If the account was and is supposed to be free, then why would I be being asked to enter my credit card information unless a hacker is going to steal all my credit information. Please look at the display I just posted and tell me if it is legitimate or a hack. If it is a hack, then how can I get rid of it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app numerous times. If it is legitimate then tell me why Evernote would be asking for a monthly payment with my credit card for a free account? Did they do away with free accounts? How can I access my notes so I can get away from this horrible situation? Thanks Neal Gross Link to comment
jentomn11 0
Having same issue here - I posted a new topic to see if anyone had information that could be helpful. Not finding anything yet?? Link to comment
Trilln451 6
My solution was to install the PC version on my laptop, then log in. When I got the promo window blocking me, I went to the top bar & clicked on "Tools", then closed it & found the promo window had closed as well. Was able to export my notebook (in Evernote form - tried to export as PDFs too, but it would finish the process). Then imported my notebook into Microsoft OneNote - you have to get a third party app for that. Looks like everything came in OK, so the only thing left to do is delete my Evernote account. Too bad, I did like Evernote - but OneNote does seem a bit smoother & more user-friendly. Link to comment
