performance differences between phone and tablet

Hi,
Evernote on my tablet (Lenovo Tab M10 Plus (2de gen) 64 GB - Android 10) is really, really slow! It takes half a minute to start a new or show an existing note.
Other apps run just fine on my tablet.  So it's not just the older Android version.

On my phone (same Evernote version: 10.97.0 - Android 14) Evernote runs fine!
I've re-installed Evernote on my tablet and for a short period it runs fine but after a while it's slowing down again.

Any help with this one is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards, Berno

When I open a test review, what do I read ?

  • Lame pace of work
  • Moderate display
  • Moderate battery runtime

To wrap it up, this is an underpowered, base device that you can use for media consumption, web browsing and email, and no much more. EN needs significant computing power on device. You can try if it works better for you if you use the EN web client instead. There the heavy lifting is done by the server.

Hi PinkElephant,

Thanks for your time and effort!

I'm fully aware my tablet isn't top of the bill but, as I said, all other apps work just fine.
Thanks for pointing out that EN is client-heavy but I was hoping that there was a fixe for this (other than me purchasing a new tablet 😉

Kind regards, Berno

Performance differences between a phone and a tablet can be attributed to several factors:

  1. Processor and RAM: Tablets often have larger processors and more RAM compared to phones, enabling them to handle multitasking and heavier apps more efficiently.

  2. Screen Size and Resolution: Tablets have larger displays, which can impact performance if the device isn't optimized for the higher resolution. Phones generally have smaller screens, requiring less power to operate.

  3. Battery Life: Tablets usually have bigger batteries, leading to longer usage time. However, higher power consumption due to larger screens can balance this out.

  4. App Optimization: Some apps are better optimized for one type of device, causing performance differences when used on a phone vs. a tablet.

  5. Cooling: Tablets generally have better thermal management, which can lead to more stable performance during extended use.

These factors result in varying performance based on how a device is used.

thanks for your reply!

for sure, hardware is part of the equation.
However software architecture, code efficiency, design decisions also play a major part in the perceived performance of, in this case, apps.

I'm having the same issue on my Android Tablet as well. On my IPad Air 3, there's also a delay as well. The bug tracker mentioned that they are aware to the slowdown when there are lots of notes. I've got over 52k notes and  both iOS and Android Tablet is set to offline.

so it's just a matter Of waiting for optimisation as per bugtacker I guess.

⚒️ Updates:

• (in progress) ⚙️ We are aware of an issue where notes on mobile sometimes display as Note Unavailable even while online and refreshing has no effect. This is more common with larger or older notes.
