robertyackley 3
For years I've created note-taking notes for students so they could each get their own copy of my original master note to take notes on without it affecting the original master note. I did that by 1) clicking on "Share"; 2) turning on "Sharable link on" with the "anyone with the link can view" setting; and then 3) emailing the students the link. From there they opened the link and clicked on the "Save Copy to Evernote" button and that gave each of them their own copy of an editable note but their note-taking would not affect the master (original) note. But now, when I click on "Share", there is NO "Shareable link on" option anymore and if I click on the blue "Copy link" button they either get editing privileges to the original note (if I select "can edit") which I DON'T want, or they get a view-only note (If I select "can view") which they can't take notes in. What happened to the "sharable link on" option and how do I get students their own copy of an editable note that doesn't affect the original note? Link to comment
Dave Green 261
Can they duplicate the read only note to get an editable version? Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,836 Posted July 6 Level 5 Share Posted July 6 Yes, that seems to be the only way. Which means they need their own account, to which they can copy the note. Link to comment
robertyackley 3
Thanks Dave, but unfortunately when they duplicate a read-only note their copy is read-only too. 1 Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,836 Posted July 17 Level 5 Share Posted July 17 If I look at it from a security / privacy viewpoint, it is a good sign that the restrictions carry over. To work around it try to export the note to ENEX. Import it again. Working now ? Link to comment

Isn't this just the change in behaviour announced recently? Just go to the "publish to web" tab in the share dialogue. 2 Link to comment
robertyackley 3
But I want them to have an editable version, not a read-only version. I’ve tried this and even if they duplicate the read-only version, their duplicate will be read only too. But if I share a “can edit,” note their edits affect the master template note. This used to be SO SEAMLESS when clicking on the share button offered a “shareable link on” option which allowed me to share an editable version that DID NOT effect my master template note. 1 Link to comment
