Set My Widgets as default home for mobile App

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've installed the latest version 10.91.0 (1222667)

Before upgrading, I've had "My Widgets" as default home when starting the app. After latest (or latest 2) upgrades, this is gone

Is there another way to set "My Widgets" option the default start/home when launching mobile app ?

Thanks

No there isn't. The screen you see is the new mobile landing page and it loads about a million times faster and Evernote are apparently getting great feedback from the majority of users.

There are some users who preferred all the customisation and there will be some tweaks coming in future updates but I don't think the every widget in the world screen will be coming back. I'm kind of glad myself as the app loads up so much faster and I've found myself using the mobile app much more.

It would be great to have a checkbox in config to set the default choice. Don't care if it loads slower or not, but I keep always going to My Widgets from menu and that's sick

Thanks

Yes I agree. I second having an option to set the opening screen to the widgets page which I much prefer. I'm on an iPhone 14 with 7000 notes and I hadn't noticed these performance issues previously.

I haven't noticed any significant change in speed, but that's probably depending on how many and what widgets there were on the old "home". Evernote is still starting a bit slow (compared to other similar apps).

Despite some disadvantages and annoying bugs, I was about to settle with the new UI and got my workflow adjusted (again-again-again...) to fit. And then the UI suddenly changed AGAIN! 😒

On the number of widgets affecting performance: quite happy with 2 widgets: Shortcuts & Notes with a graphic at the top. This is all I really want as a home screen giving immediate access to what's topical for me...

I have Shortcuts, Recently Updated & Tasks Widgets on my Android and it is certainly working much faster with the latest updates.

Widgets on android home screen or in Evernote apps old "home"?

Now, when shortcuts are gone from Evernotes new startpage, i started to use android homescreen widget. Works somewhat ok ...although it seems to update only when the device is restarted or the widget itself is reinstalled 🤔

Android four-year-old Samsung A70 used to be a bit slow, but it is working fine now, as the response has improved with the last few updates. Currently on 10.91.3 on mobile.

For me, too, the changes to the new interface for the Android app don't meet my needs. Every day I miss having direct access to the most recently edited notes and, above all, to the pinboard. In general, access to existing notes is more important to me than creating new notes. I am very dissatisfied with the current situation. I haven't noticed better loading times in practice, but I didn't have any problems with them before. I would definitely like to have the option of making the widgets standard or at least more options for customising the start screen. For me, the new app is a big step backwards in the use of Evernote.

Exactly the same opinion for me

Hope devs can set an option (choice) to set this in future releases. It won't affect loading speed. Or at least put a warning when setting that. I haven't noticed delays before when loading widgets as default

As noted in another thread some customisation is coming in response to user feedback. Not sure the My Widgets request is one but feedback@evernote.com is the way to request.

I agree with Kabeza; It would like to choose myself what to set the default choice.
I don't care if it loads a bit slower or not, I want my widget home page as default.

The current default homepage now is pretty useless, and that make the practical usage much slower than loading time of the widget-page itself.

PLEASE, let us choose, and not FORCE the users on hardcoded choices.

So agree with your comment. Usability has gone down big time, so as my satisfaction. It was much more satisfying experience before even beautiful with some background. Now it is hard work every time and barely doing the job. 👎👎👎
