notetakeingguy 95 Posted June 4 Posted June 4 My work computer got forcibly upgraded to Windows 11 and I lost all my applications, including my legacy version of Evernote (which could pull up information, just couldn't sync). So now i installed Evernote 10 on my work computer. It mostly works, however, it can't open up any attachments. I CAN open up attachments on my personal computer Evernote. So I wanted to report this. Is there a way perhaps to move the data file that may have an affect? Note, I have no problem opening up these attachments on Evernote web, though then I have to download it. And, as many have noted, it takes forever to Evernote Web to pull up.
VincentC 387 Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Two possible causes occur to me right away: a security setting that the IT people at your work have turned on, or a faulty installation of the Evernote client. If you have the ability to do so in your work environment, I would try uninstalling your Evernote windows client using Revo uninstaller, and then reinstalling with the latest version downloaded from Evernote.com, not the Windows store. Other knowledgeable folks here may have more sophisticated suggestions. Vinnie
notetakeingguy 95 Posted June 4 Author Posted June 4 Thank you for responding. When I installed it last week, I used the Evernote website. I can try that again. My IT would not approve of me installing applications on my own, but they don't stop you. And it syncs fine (at my previous job, Evernote syncing was blocked). Just the attachments won't open. On the legacy Evernote, they opened fine.
VincentC 387 Posted June 4 Posted June 4 It's not all that unusual for installations to go awry. But there could very well be a security setting that your IT folks have enabled that is interfering with part of the installation process or with the specifics of opening an attachment using the Evernote client. I am DEFINITELY not a Windows system guru -- I am right now pulling my hair out about inconsistencies I'm experiencing with Windows on different computers that I can't figure out the reason for. Worst comes to worst, you could open up Evernote web at the start of the day and just leave it open, no? Some IT system folks won't even allow the use of Evernote web. Hope you can get things running acceptably. Vinnie
notetakeingguy 95 Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 I'm working from home today and here's something interesting -- it's all working fine. Attachment previews, including PDFs and PNG/JPGs, show in Evernote. Whereas when I am at work, they are not showing. So quite interesting. It does sync at work. Previously, they didn't work at home. So let's see what happens today.
VincentC 387 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Hope that continues working for you. If it does, it becomes pretty certain that it's a company IT security policy that is affecting EN. Vinnie
