Sebbel 2 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Hi everyone, I think this problem has already been reported. I've searched quite a bit on the forum and online, but no luck so far. So I'm writing a new post to see if anyone has updated info, tips, etc. I'm working on a Lenovo P12 tablet with the provided stylus. My Evernote App is up to date. My Android too. I should mention that it works perfectly on other drawing or note-taking apps (just to rule out any issues with my device). But on Evernote, I can't use the "ketch notes, whether creating a note directly of this type or inserting a sketch object in a regular note (as suggested in other posts). Symptoms: it works fine on the first stroke, and it continues to work as long as I keep the stylus in contact. As soon as I lift the stylus once, it's over, it won't register any more drawing. Any ideas for a fix? Thanks!! 1
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,019 Posted May 21 Level 5 Posted May 21 EN has its own build in Sketch module. You can start a note with Sketch from the mobile Home Screen, or insert it into a note through the + menu, or with a slash-command. Drawings from other apps can be attached as picture files, and will display inline if in jpg, png or gif format. They can be edited using the EN picture annotation tool.
Spreeni 0 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Hey Sebbel, I noticed the same behavior with the EN sketch module as Sebbel described. I'm working with a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 which is an 8" device. By default it uses a system's zoomfactor that makes EN think it is a mobile device - so it starts in the mobile look without the sidebar. In this mode I noticed the Problems with the sketch book. Now my solution: I changed the zoom factor in Android's display settings to a slightly smaller size which results to to higher resolution. All icons are now shown a bit smaller, but it is still o.k. But the point is, EN now starts in the tablet mode with the sidebar on the left. In that mode the sketch module is working perfectly. So maybe you can try to change your resoluten in the same way and check if it fixes your problem. Don't forget to restart EN (with real close and re-open) after display changes.
Sebbel 2 Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 PinkElephant: It's not an issue of how to create my note, it simply doesn't work. I can't write with the stylus in the note; it's definitely the Evernote sketch note editor that isn't functioning properly. I open a note as you said, and the stylus doesn't work (actually, it works for the first stroke, but as soon as I lift it once, it's over, the page freezes and it doesn't register anything anymore). And it's not a hardware problem, because the stylus works perfectly on all other apps. Evernote has been uninstalled and reinstalled, of course. Spreeni: Thank you for your suggestion, but it doesn't change anything. I still zoomed out to be sure, but no. I already had tablet mode... Any other ideas? Thanks!!!
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,019 Posted May 27 Level 5 Posted May 27 Switch to iOS - there it is working fine. It seems to be one of the problems with the Android ecosystem. Too many makers, often devices not updated, Skins and bloatware added on delivery. At least the EN Android client has problems since it was released - from my gut feeling it produces half of the client related forum traffic. Sorry, no further ideas. 1
Sebbel 2 Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 Understood, but switching to iOS for evernote is a little bit overkilling isnt'it ? 😉 All y ecosystem is Android-based so... No, thanks 😛 1

Don't think it has anything to do with the Android ecosystem itself, but the development team breaking something in Evernote app when something else is updated. Sketching has worked before - but getting more and more buggy with every update both in android and windows.
Gview 1 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Just want to add that I'm experiencing the same behavior on my Samsung Note 20. You can make an initial object, but as soon as you lift off, you can not add any additional sketch objects. You can erase objects. Doesn't matter if the pen or a finger is used. Sketch is buggy and non usable. From the sound of it, this is an Android bug. Other sketch apps work, and within Evernote you can use the "write by hand" OCR window.
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,019 Posted October 15 Level 5 Posted October 15 Yes, has been claimed before. It seems Sketch and the Android (Samsung) pens are no friends. On the iPad it works OK, although there are better apps if you want to use the pencil.
Carme 0 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 News about this? I've posted a ticket but I have NO answer yet... S9 and S23 Samsung devices
