ChristinaaJ 1 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I know all tech companies are falling over themselves to find a reason to shoehorn AI into every use but for me that doesn't reflect my need. They claim to be focused on users but foist their belief that their rather poor formatting tool is not only something that users want but that should be prominent in the formatting options on Notes and something that you cannot opt out of. The last thing I want is any of my data being manipulated by an AI tool as I have zero confidence that it keeps may data secure. Mass Data Models base their "performance and functionality" on using and maintaining the rights to other people's data. As someone who works in Data Protection, I see massive fines for tech companies for lying about what they will do with your data or just being plainly incompetent. Without the option to opt out I am losing confidence that EN is a good home for my data.

If you have any doubts about Evernote's security, please see this page - https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313518-How-does-Evernote-use-my-personal-information-and-data And for your reassurance, everyone is automatically opted out of AI unless you specifically choose to use to use one of the AI options.
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,002 Posted May 5 Level 5 Posted May 5 Opt out is the default. If you want it, just don’t use any AI function. When you decide to use an AI function, you decide to opt in. 1
gilboy 0 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Does this mean that the one time I tried an AI function at the urging of Evernote's interface, I automatically opted in without being told the implications for their use of my data? Instead of the link above to a long article, could Evernote have said in simple words up front how it accesses and uses our data? Maybe it could use AI to produce its simplified statement of its policies?
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,002 Posted July 14 Level 5 Posted July 14 Sure, if you actively send stuff to AI, you enable it. For this one occasion only, there is no general opt in that would grant AI general access. You can inform yourself on the website about the security and privacy aspects. I’m not quite sure because i played with it a while ago - but I think the first time there was an information I had to confirm. I see no need to ask again every time a user comes back to use AI. Don‘t want it, don’t use it.
Level 5* gazumped 12,214 Posted July 14 Level 5* Posted July 14 There is a 'learn more' link when you start an AI search which goes to https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/20406371441939-AI-Powered-Search-Overview That page includes: Quote Does AI-Powered Search involve third-party vendors? In order to provide the best possible experience for our users, we may need to work with providers such as OpenAI to better support certain features and functionalities like the processing of note content.
