(Archived) Mac and PC version treat PDFs differently

Evernote is brilliant. I love the fact that I can use it on my Mac, PC and mobile devices. I took up the pro registration within an hour of trying it out. There is, however, some room for improvement.

As others have stated in other posts, the Mac version of Evernote displays all the pages of the pdf in a vertical list, one page following the other. This is so frustrating.

Yet when I sync and then access the same note on my PC, I see only one page of the PDF and when my cursor is above the image, a little panel pops up that allows me to move through the pages. Brilliant!

This is EXACTLY what should happen on the Mac version but it doesn't. I have 32 pages showing in my note on the Mac side. Not good!

PLEASE fix this!

On 23 December 2010, Phil Libin sent an email to all evernote users that states '...We dedicate every day to making a better product for you..'

I hope this is true and that this minor annoying behaviour on the Mac version is fixed.

In my case, using both clients, I prefer the Mac behavior for the following reason, which is perhaps due to a bug on the Win client.

As you stated, when I view a PDF in Win EN, the "little panel pops up" to allow navigation through the PDF's pages. Great.

But if after this I switch to a text-only note or if I create a new note, this floating panel is still there... and this is very annoying when you type text.

I made several tests (W7 64bits Entreprise) and the only way to get rid of of this panel is to qui EN.

In fact, scrolling through pages using the trackpad or the whell button is faster then using this panel.

What is strange to my eyes is that the FoxIt reader as an external application does not offer this panel but classically use the "scrolling with wheel or trackpad" as well: so, why this panel on the Win release ?

In order to keep everyone happy, maybe we should be able to choose how multi-page pdfs are displayed on the Mac.

If a pdf contains 40 pages, that's quite a bit of scrolling. An option to display the pdf as one icon would satisfy me.

This could work like Mail does. When you attach an eps file in a mail message, you can right click and set the attached file to be viewed as an icon, not in 'preview'. This would solve my problem.

... I love how it is right now - Displaying the PDF in full mode is amazing.

Agreed. There should be an options in the preferences (+,) in Evernote to toggle how PDFs are rendered within the application.
