Advanced Search support for Nested Tags

Idea

Evernote's advanced search functionality is a fantastic way to quickly find what you're looking for.  Please add syntax for nested tags so we can quickly define the scope  of our queries without having to go into the add filters menu.

Perhaps you could explain exactly what you are trying to achieve. You can already include all sub tags from the down arrow in the blue tag lozenge.

You can also use a naming convention to select tags. For example I have a set of "metadata" sub tags that sit under my metadata tag. They describe the type of note (tutorial, paper, ebook, my notes etc). They all begin with + so

tag:+*

finds all the notes that have such a tag. Even more importantly for me

-tag:+*

finds all the notes I have forgotten to give a meta data tag.

Mike,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I'm aware that I can include and exclude subtags from the filters.   But, I could more quickly work with nested tags using keywords from the search box.

For example: +tag:Client\* to return all notes tagged with Client and all notes with subtags.

Or: +KnowledgeBase\-Exercises to return all Knowledge Base notes, including all subtags, excluding those with an Exercises subtag.

Advanced Syntax for nested tags would be a quicker way for some users to access that part of the data model, especially as a part of larger advanced syntax queries.

Clarification on exclusion example.
