(Archived) Paste not working when text is highlighted

If I have text highlighted and try to paste in other text, the highlighted text is deleted, but the clipboard contents is not pasted in, and the cursor taken out of line (so, for example, hitting the space bar, pages down). This happens often, but not always, and I haven't been able to find anything that seems to predict when it will.

I could also mention that it may have something to do with pasted in formatting (although I have the editor set to plain text, and am using Paste Without Formatting), because the pasted in text is copied from the notes field from a RememberTheMilk task.
