V77 3
After the latest update, there is no longer a "Home" feature in the web based Evernote. I also no longer have access to my general task note. In the preview for that note, I can see the top few items, but when I open that note, it says this: "This block is a placeholder for Tasks, which has been officially released on the newest version of Evernote and is no longer supported on this version. Deleting or moving this block may cause unexpected behavior in newer versions of Evernote." This note still works fine for me in the app version on my phone and ipad. Is the Home feature really gone from the web version? Are they going to give it back? For context, I work in a place where I am not allowed to download apps on my work computer and I switch between multiple desktops throughout the day, so the web version is the only version I can use at work, where I do a significant amount of research, web clipping, and specifically .pdf uploads to notes that I then markup - the primary reason I went with Evernote in the first place. The Home feature allowed me to set up a custom template weekly schedule/planner and pin that note so it'd be front and center when I logged in, have a functional task list, and easily see all my notebooks. It was an essential dashboard for my workflow and now it seems to simply be gone. I even paid for a personal subscription because I loved the Home feature so much. The loss of it and the price increase has me looking for other options, but none that I've come across or tried have that essential Home dashboard that also allow me to easily clip things from the web and upload then markup files. It's incredibly frustrating to be willing to pay for that perfect feature only to have it completely disappear. Oh yeah, full dark mode is also seemingly gone from the web version. WTAF? Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 2,897 Posted September 5 Level 5 Share Posted September 5 Check your settings: https://www.evernote.com/Settings.action. Look at the Web version. As @Mike P says, it sounds like you've accidentally gotten switched back to the older version. 1 Link to comment
V77 3
Let me start by saying I am not an Evernote power user, not am I a long time user; I started using this in April 2023. I appreciate the posting of the web versions where Home and dark mode work. When I look to see what web version I am using, below is all I see. I am terribly confused that I am apparently using Evernote web v5.33.0 when you all are on v10. I am using Chrome and my browser is up to date. Thanking Dave-in-decatur, I followed that link and this is what I see: Edited September 5 by V77 additional info Link to comment
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 2,897 Posted September 5 Level 5 Share Posted September 5 Definitely check the Web client setting in https://www.evernote.com/Settings.action. Also in https://www.evernote.com/PersonalSettings.action. 1 Link to comment
V77 3
When I click "go back to pervious version," it changes to a very old version of Evernote that I like even less. The loss of Home and dark mode only occurred after the new update. I don't understand why an update would dump me into an old, outdated version but tell me I'm using the new Evernote web. Thanks for helping me try to figure this out. Link to comment
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 2,897 Posted September 5 Level 5 Share Posted September 5 "Go back to previous" would definitely not be it. I'm not seeing this in v. 10.61.5 myself. I agree that a version update shouldn't reset things like this. If the other settings page, https://www.evernote.com/PersonalSettings.action doesn't help, try some usual browser fixes: clear the cache, clear cookies, etc. 1 Link to comment
Evernote Expert agsteele 2,580 Posted September 5 Evernote Expert Share Posted September 5 One question, what browser and version are you using? Link to comment
V77 3
I am using Chrome on Windows 10. For clarity, I am attempting to use Evernote on my chrome browser (evernote.com), not the Windows desktop app, which I think someone posted a screenie of. Magically, I was able to download the windows app on my primary work computer and saw the v10... some of you had posted. However, when I switch to a different workstation/ computer, the windows Evernote app isn't present so that is not a solution for me (don't even get me started on how janky my work computer situation is). Mike P 2,234
Is it worth clearing all the cookies and site data and resetting everything in Chrome? Right click the padlock to the left of the url. Link to comment

My screen shot was of my web browser which does look very similar to the desktop app. But that was v10.61.5 for web browser... I'd wondered if you were using a less common browser which might have been struggling to display the current release. Sadly that wouldn't be Chrome. The best diagnostic approach with a browser is to first of all disable all extensions. These can sometimes break things. With no extensions loaded see if anything has changed. If not you can re-enable the extensions and continue the search for a solution. If disabling extensions resolves the issue then re-enable each extension one at a time until you find which one is causing the problem. Link to comment
Mike P 2,234
I suppose trying a different browser might help work out whether it is some issue within your Chrome setup. Link to comment
V77 3
I really appreciate everyone's suggestions. Per those suggestions, I cleared all my cookies and site data in Chrome to no avail. I also checked my extensions and I don't have any set up on Chrome currently. I also tried opening Evernote in Microsoft Edge, my company's default browser, and there is still no Home. I may just open a ticket with Evernote support and see what they say as the logical steps shared here haven't worked. I should also say that everything I've described about Evernote on my work station holds true for my home computer if I access Evernote though the web (evernote.com) using the same browser (Chrome) which is also up-to-date. I will have to wait until tonight to replicate the suggestions here on my home computer and see if that makes any difference. Surely I can't be the only person this has happened to? Link to comment
Evernote Expert agsteele 2,580 Posted September 5 Evernote Expert Share Posted September 5 Sadly, for you, I've not seen this reported elsewhere. 16 hours ago, V77 said: This block is a placeholder for Tasks, which has been officially released on the newest version of Evernote and is no longer supported on this version I read, and re-read, your initial post and missed this key piece of information. For some reason you have been put back onto an early version of the browser application. Check your account settings to see which app version you are viewing. Link to comment
Solution V77 3 Posted September 8 Author Solution Share Posted September 8 Alright kind troubleshooters, I knew it would be a very simple, obvious thing. I needed to check the box in my settings that says "enable v10+" which gets unchecked by default after an update. How silly. I opened a support ticket minutes before I realized this and minutes after I made my last allowed post here for the day. I did suggest to the support team that this box be automatically checked after an update in future updates, as I don't imagine many people are still using v5. Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions and help and now I know better 3 Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 6,792 Posted September 9 Level 5 Share Posted September 9 This box is checked on my account since long, and NEVER was unchecked by any update. Either you run a rare combination of check boxes on your account settings, or it happened to be unchecked by accident. 1 1 Link to comment
