Madflute 12 Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 The only reason I stayed with macOS12 was because Evernote Legacy won't work with macOS13. Evernote Legacy was that much important to me. My Evernote Legacy went into auto-update, which updated to the current version with the app name still remaining Legacy. What a nasty trick. I am now forced to use the current version, and I have been very unhappy—the uneditable hotkeys conflict with other global shortcuts. There is no Show All Notes. The hotkey to Notes, ⌘+⌥+2 won't work. Only ⌘+⌥+[2] NumPad works. Ridiculous. And there are no menu items I can use Keyboard Maestro to macro. Just painful. And most of all, the current version is maddeningly slow, especially the tables I use most often. I know there is no solution to my agony. I just had to vent. Thanks for listening.
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,004 Posted June 13, 2023 Level 5 Posted June 13, 2023 You can edit many keyboard shortcuts. Open the shortcuts help (little symbol bottom of left panel), and hover with the mouse over a shortcut, without clicking it. A handle (4 dots) will appear to the left of the shortcut. Click it, and if there is an edit option in the little menu, you can change it. No scripting in v10, as a general restriction by the framework based design. 1

The editable shortcuts you talk about are very limited to system functions such as Open Evernote Helper. First, I need to disable ⌘+⌥+F, which is conflicting with my critical Finder operation (why does Evernote have ⌘+^+E and ⌘+⌥+F for the same function anyway?). And the one I used hundreds of times a day with Evernote Legacy, ⌘+⇧+A, to display all the notes in the list view presorted.
Level 5 PinkElephant 9,004 Posted June 13, 2023 Level 5 Posted June 13, 2023 There are partially competing keyboard shortcuts by a bunch of apps, and the combinations (especially the „good“ ones) are limited. Plus there are some shortcuts that in parts of the world are used to create special characters found in the local languages. Not all shortcuts in EN were made editable, for whatever reason. There are no one size fits all rules on shortcuts. You can edit some system shortcuts in MacOS settings, you need to take into account which other apps you use and then make you own „personal strategic shortcuts plan“ to set the combinations that will work for you. This comparison can help you transfer from legacy to v10. Note there are some new shortcuts that did not exist in in legacy: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313358
Madflute 12 Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with slow UI responses? The one thing that bothers me most right now is this. My tables contain hyperlink-embedded strings. The Legacy had let me right-click to copy the string with the embedded string as a whole, which I could paste to other applications that support hyperlink-embedded strings. V10 won't let me do this. I have to select the entire string first before right-clicking. But the issue is making a selection within a table in V10. The UI response is so erratic. It's slow, and the resulting selection may be impartial or incorrect. It's just frustrating me 😓

V10 won't let me.
