Evernote has forgotten me

Owen5819

Idea

I have used Evernote for most of ten years, sometimes the free version and sometimes the Personal paid version when I needed extra room to upload material. At the moment, I am using the free version. Now that I rather desperately need some of the information stored there, Evernote suddenly does not recognize my login data, though it does know that one of my e-mail addresses is in use already, and wants to open a new account for me. My data might as well not exist.

They are not complaining that I have too many devices attached to a basic account, simply refusing to acknowledge my previous existence.

I signed up for a Personal account again so that I could use the live chat system and received the following message: "Because so many people need help, we have closed this service, and you are SOL." Words to that effect, anyway.

If anyone can tell me how to regain access to my account or find some tech support, you will have my eternal gratitude.

Have you sent a password reset request to the email address that is in use already?

Chat support is not available. Use the option to submit a ticket which create an Email interaction.

"Eternal gratitude" sounds too good*, so let's see:

Support via Twitter:

On the usual support pages, as a Free user you need to choose the ticket type "Account" to be able to issue a ticket. Technical issues can only be reported by subscribers.

*Eternal gratitude can be enacted by sending any amount of money you see adequate to any charity you believe is helping your community (or mankind, whatever you prefer) to a better life for those in need. Hands-on assistance is an option 😇

I have been accessing the same data files from two different e-mail addresses. Even used the same password. It has always seemed to work fine. This time, when I changed the password for one address, the other became available. Beats me, but whatever.

This is a very great relief. I promised an editor to fill a sudden three-page hole in his lineup, and he would not have been interested in, "Sorry, but Evernote ate my homework."

Thanks for all your efforts.

Some money goes to that sort of organization every year, PinkElephant. I will donate a little more this time.
