It is not possible. Combine notes into a smaller number of notebooks is your only option.

Hi.  The limit on Notebooks is 250 if you're not a subscriber,  1,000 if you are - and 10,000 if you use the business version.  Otherwise - edit what you have as above.  You may consider archiving some information to ENEX or HTML files,  or using additional free or subscriber accounts as overspill.

Quick shout out for tags where the limit is 100,000! (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005247-Evernote-system-limits). Although tags offer far more, they can just be used as pseudo notebooks.

For a long run trustful system some Evernote productivity experts recommend not to use tags as notebooks; use tags like saved searches. I recently managed to reduce the number of notebooks after I adopted the PARA methodology. Now I am content with the intentional limited file structure of Evernote and for the fist time it makes sense to me.
