Issue with some images not displaying in notes and in their place I see a spinning wheel

I'm running the latest Mac (App store) version of Evernote and am seen this issue only with some of my notes.

Some notes have images that show and others show the spinner and other notes show the spinners for every image.

I noticed there was an update to Evernote on the Mac 3 days ago and it seems to coincide when the problem started.

I have looked at those same notes on the Evernote website and iPhone app and I get the same results with the same notes

Attached is a screenshot of how the spinner is shown instead of the missing images

Mac version:

10.55.2-mac-mas-public (459791)
Editor: v167.2.20810
Service: v1.67.2

I have a 20 day open ticket with support and no answer as usual, so if you can re-create this issue on your side , and have an open link with support please help.

I sent a ticket on 4 September - # 3983948.  I don't have an open line with Support,  and I'm reluctant to ask anyone to prioritise issues because while this is important to some users,  there  are a bunch (technical term) of other things that need attention,  and I'm confident they're going through issues as fast as they can.  The new versions are currently dropping with amazing frequency,  so hopefully we'll see something more soon...

EDIT:  Nice work-around by the way... I'm stealing that! :)

Hello, and welcome to the forums. Perhaps someone who uses a Mac can offer some suggestions soon, but I will say that there have been several reports of this kind of problem lately. If you have a paid subscription, you might want to create a support ticket (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new); if not, it might be worth subscribing for one month in order to do so.

I am having this problem on my Mac as well.  The note looked fine yesterday but today when I looked at it I am getting the spinning circles.  I am a paid subscriber, will try to log a support ticket.

With that problem I don’t have a first hand experience. From what was reported here, it was often enough to log out of the account and quit the app. After restarting and a fresh login, everything worked.

I merged two notes that each had a ScanSnap scan of a receipt (credit card and main receipt for same purchase) and now I see two spinning icons.  I hope merging doesn't lose the images of the receipts. I used to do this all the time in Legacy without issue. I know I'm sure you're sick of hearing of all the wonderful things that worked in Legacy and don't work in v10.86.8.

As of 9.12 when copying an image from 1 note to a new note and pasting spinning images occur again ... at first it seems pasted but then leaving the note causes it to spin

That's been going on in some fashion for a while. One EN employee has helped a few people restore individual notes but I never heard anything about a platform-wide fix. I have a few notes with spinning circles that are months old and the images/attachments don't appear anywhere - desktop, web, nothing. If you search the forum for "spinning circles" you should find the thread where the EN person was of assistance and perhaps reach out to them for help. Otherwise, I'm not aware of a solution to get those images back.

so my issue is not that I have spinning images , is that right now when copying an image from 1 not to a new note , the pasting creates a spinning image , this issue has occurred in the past  , and evernote fixed it..

Workaround (in case anyone didn't find it already) is to copy the image somewhere outside of Evernote and delete the original.  Then copy into a new note.

I don't know how Evernote handles multiple copies of the same image,  but a while ago there were suggestions that the database follows the Highlander principle - "there can ony be one" copy of a file,  which is referenced by any and all containers which feature it.  Whether that still applies,  and maybe just renaming the file (file1,  file2 etc) would help I don't know.

Meantime 10.105.4 on desktop includes this in the notes:  "Fixes an issue where attachments updates were not reflected properly in the notes" - which refers to editing the content,  but maybe while they were there they looked at image files too...

If the issue is still present - contact Support.

Ah, I must have misunderstood your situation.

so my workaround is 'print-screening' and pasting on the note that I currently work on , when I do this , the image stands and does not appear spinning when returning to the note.

However I like to work with draft notes and sometimes upload images from mobile to paste them to a certain note . So on web and now on latest version of desktop, 'copying' a note from my draft note to another note , creates the spinning issue .

I have a 20 day open ticket with support and no answer as usual, so if you can re-create this issue on your side , and have an open link with support please help.

glad you liked my workaround , however think of the users who do copy paste images from 1 note to another, and at first they think its works , only to come back to a spinning image later... and there is no way that image will work. So I think this is actually a Massive issue which needs an ASAP fix.

I am sure some top forum users have better access to support, don't know who they are though :)

Actually my own experience is that the image file still exists,  even when the spinner is still going.  And Evernote has your back in another way.  If you go back to the 'donor' note and look in Note History (via Note Information) you'll be able to step the content back to the point when the original image still existed,  so it can be copied again.

As to the importance of the issue - I'm active across a couple of help sites,  and there really isn't much going on related to this specific issue.  If it were so important I would have expected a torrent of complaints.  It may be taking a while to fix because it seems like a Syncing issue,  and Evernote are still pushing thriough their project to improve that.  Stick with the work-around for a while longer and I hope things get fixed soon!

1. issue has only occurred since today afternoon version Evernote 10.105.4 on web

2. regarding your workaround, if I paste a new image inside a note from a draft note , then your suggestion would not work , since the new image never existed in the pasted note anyways , so using note history would not work in this case
