Changing tasks to a checklist

I mistakenly created a task list instead of a checklist.  Is there any way to change it back to a checklist?

  • Select all the tasks - easier said than done but it is possible. Sometimes adding some dummy text at the beginning and end of the list and selecting that as well works better.
  • Copy (ctrl+C)
  • Paste into a text editor (or a code block in an EN note). That way only the text of the task is preserved.
  • Select and copy again
  • Paste into a new note
  • Select all the text again and turn it into a check list by clicking the check list icon (or ctrl+shift+C)

It is possible to change a task list into a checklist, depending on the tool or platform you are using. Here are a few options to consider:

  1. Copy and paste: If your task list is in a document or text file, you can copy and paste the list into a checklist template or into a checklist tool.

  2. Use a checklist tool: There are many online tools and apps that allow you to create checklists, such as Trello, Asana, and Todoist. You can import your task list into one of these tools and then convert it into a checklist format.

  3. Manually convert: You can also manually convert your task list into a checklist by adding checkboxes or bullet points next to each task.

It's always a good idea to double check the format before you begin the task list, you can use this tool https://namecombinertool.com/ which can be helpful in future.

1. Select all the text you want to change back into a checklist.

2. Copy (Ctrl+C) or Cut (Ctrl+X).

3. Paste without formatting (Ctrl+Shift+V).

4. Select all the text and create the Checklist again using the Checklist button/icon.
