(Archived) Clip rectangle to Clipboard

I would like to know if I can clip a rectangle or even screen shot to the mac clipboard WITHOUT CREATING A NEW NOTE.

For example, I'm watching a presentation, taking note, I want to copy something from the screen and paste into my existing note, without the screen clip creating a new note.
