falman130 0
Just noticed today that the very nice touch bar icons are not showing up for the Evernote app on the MacBook Pro I have been using. I am using macOS Monterey (12.0.1) and this has worked flawlessly in the past and I do not know why it is gone now. Such a convenience so i am not sure what to do. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,064 Posted September 23, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted September 23, 2022 Maybe it was not coded for the new app because when it launched, Apple made it clear that Touch Bar is an outgoing feature. It is currently only supported on the MacBookPro 13“, that is running a modern SOC in the casing of an Intel Mac. Anybody starting new (and v10 is completely recoded) will not invest devs hours into a feature that is not promoted any longer by the hardware and OS vendor. Which is a pity, I run an Intel MacBook Pro and I like this flexible GUI element. But Apple itself never really committed: It never made it to the solo keyboards, and by this decision was never rolled out for the desktop Macs either. I am usually running my MacBook Pro on a stand, which makes the TouchBar hard to use as well. If there would have been an external keyboard with TouchBar, I am sure the acceptance would have been much better. But OK, the milk is spilled, so let’s go and get the cat. Link to comment
falman130 0
Thanks PE... very disappointing but it makes sense. I would go back to a previous version to get the flexibility of the touch bar (using colors, underlines, bolds) and strangely enough some of the new M2 MacBook Pros DO have a touch bar - which I would buy just because I do use it. Yet another disappointing updated feature (or not) with the evolution of Evernote. The spacing with check boxes is still not what it should be either. May have to begin looking elsewhere. Thanks again for your thoughts. Link to comment
Level 5 Solution PinkElephant 8,064 Posted September 24, 2022 Level 5 Solution Share Posted September 24, 2022 It is only the 13“ MacBook Pro that still has a TouchBar - it is the old design with the new chips. All others have a classic function keys layout, in a new design including micro LED screens with a smaller bezel and MagSafe. For me not a hard choice … Link to comment
