Fgsf 3
Are there any plans for zero knowledge encryption in the roadmap? Would be great to know zero knowledge is happening and that our data would be completely secure inaccessible by anyone else. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 7,921 Posted September 16, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted September 16, 2022 Don’t think it is on the roadmap, or will ever be. Some key subscribers features (that are the main point in selling plans to users) depend on bots crawling the data on the server, building search, performing OCR etc. It is automatic, but it won’t work without EN holding a key. No inside knowledge, but I think if this is important to you, you need another app, 1 Link to comment

Level 5 PinkElephant 7,921 Posted September 18, 2023 Level 5 Share Posted September 18, 2023 … for reasons, as already posted. All server side processes depend on access to the data. It is access by bots, not humans, and outside of being processed, all data is encrypted. But the access is necessary for key functions of the EN services offer to perform properly. If you don‘t like it, nobody forces you to use EN at all. Just walk to another solution you like better. 1 Link to comment
mackid1993 604
You can encrypt the contents of a note by right clicking some highlighted text and choosing Encrypt Selected Text. This seems to be done client side so it should qualify as zero knowledge. Link to comment
Boot17 1,392
Just a side note with regards to highlighting text and choosing "encrypt selected text" -- if you do this, you should first enter dummy text like "asdf" -- then encrypt that -- and then replace the dummy "asdf" text (now in the encrypted text block) with the text that you want to keep secret. This is because the text you enter first may become part of the note history snapshot (if it's not already) -- so even though you encrypt the current text selection of the note, that will not affect previously saved note history snapshots. 1 Link to comment
