glenintenn 3
Trying to set up a simple vehicle/car maintenance log. I've created a Notebook which has a note for each car. The note has a table with lines for each maintenance activity. For those done by an workshop, I'd like to send in the receipt and link it in one of the table fields. Questions: How should I collect the receipts when I email them in via email so that each vehicle's receipts are collected together? How should I link a cell in the table to the specific receipt for quick/easy reference (I type a brief description of each maintenance activity but I want to click a link to the receipt for all details if I need the full list from the shop) Thanks for your suggestions. I would personally create a tag for each car. Alternatively you could have a notebook for each car and a stack which collects together all your car notebooks. 3 hours ago, glenintenn said: How should I link a cell in the table to the specific receipt for quick/easy reference (I type a brief description of each maintenance activity but I want to click a link to the receipt for all details if I need the full list from the shop) You can easily create a link to another note in a note. Go to the note you want to link and copy an internal link. (eg from the three dots menu in the note). You can then paste that link into the table. Link to comment
Level 5* DTLow 5,745 Posted August 5, 2022 Level 5* Share Posted August 5, 2022 I store/organize all my receipts (scans, emails, ...) and use tags to identify the categories (examples !car-xxxxx, !work-xxxxxx, !budget-xxxxxx) I also pad the title with the important details I'm not a fan of maintaining lists The computer does a great job of generating lists, filtered by tags With the Evernote Legacy product and scripting, I can also export the list to a spreadsheet for enhanced features 1 Link to comment

Also worth remembering that you can add tags or notebooks to the subject line when emailing the receipts in so they immediately go to the right place. glenintenn 3
How do I collect pictures of the receipts for each car somewhere in EN - preferably sorted by descending date order so that if I go view the entire list I see most recent to oldest. I don't want to just jumble all the pictures into the same notebook where my car notes are ... three years from now, I'll have a 100 documents in there competing with the 6 notes -- one for each car? (if I just send the receipt picture into the notebook you see them all mashed together with pictures and notes mixed together?) Secondarily, how do I generate a URL to each individual picture in EN so that I can link that to the summary table in my EN Note (I have one note per car with a table documenting each repair as a line in a table). I want to link that line to a picture of the receipt ( mock up attached -- upper left is the EN note for the car with a table, I want to click on the links and see the receipts) ... is that possible? Pictures need to go in notes. You can get a picture into a note by emailing (which is what you said you were doing), dropping it inoto the import folder or just copying and pasting into a new note. If you give the note a tag you can you can easily filter for that tag and then use one of the note list views to see them. Here's an example: 15 minutes ago, glenintenn said: Secondarily, how do I generate a URL to each individual picture in EN so that I can link that to the summary table in my EN Note Again a picture has to be in a note. Once you have put it in a note (see above) you can link to it (see my first post) Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,076 Posted August 5, 2022 Level 5* Share Posted August 5, 2022 ...What everyone else said: also - images are searchable, and receipts can be scanned to searchable PDFs, so despite all of this organisation, saved searches for a car tag (or other keyword) should get you all the relevant paperwork...
