Leaning Evernote

Hi, and welcome to the forums and to Evernote. I would recommend browsing in the Evernote Help & Learning pages as a good starting point. But basically, it depends on what you want to do: Evernote is flexible enough that its users utilize it in many different ways. I use it to record ideas, research material, etc., often on my Android phone, and then expand these and relate them to each other in the Evernote Windows program. From there, ideas and information can be worked into fully developed projects in my word processor or other software. But I also use it some to record household data for later use (receipts, etc.); and to store information about events I want to take part in. As for organizing the information, there is a big debate over whether to use mostly notebooks, mostly tags, or a combination of the two. The best way to figure out what works for you is to try it out and see what habits you develop--IMHO; others here will have other suggestions.

Welcome to the Evernote product user discussion forum
My experience is as a long-term Evernote Legacy user (Mac and iPad)
All my notes/documents/files were stored/accessed in the Evernote database

Be aware that Evernote uses a note paradigm; notes are the base unit
Additional files (pdfs, images, ...) can be stored; but only as note file attachments
----------
Be aware that Evernote's primary organization tool is Tags
For example
Instead of filing information in folder/subfolder/subfolder/Insurance
     I assign tag !Insurance

There's also a less functional Stack/Notebooks feature
Some users are more comfortable with this;  relating it to traditional folder/subfolders

Be aware that there is not universal agreement on this. I primarily use notebooks, because it more closely reflects the way I think (which differs, apparently, from the normal human brain, but that's another story). Notebooks cannot be nested, though (like folders and subfolders), whereas tags can be.

Evernote had a series of videos on YouTube which will be useful.

There are MANY videos online which tell you about Evernote but be sure that they refer to Evernote 10 which is the current release version. Many videos deal with the older versions.
