Mike Vila 11 Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 I would love to switch from my complicated spreadsheet software to do simple calculations. Can you please add the ability to do SUM and other simple calculations in Evernote tables, please. 1

If you search the forum, you will find a feature request thread going back some years, asking for this. It is drawing votes, but up to now, calc in tables has not materialized. Maybe add your vote there as well. And to the topic: I agree, missing a quick sum or count as well. Workaround is to put the table into a spreadsheet, and nest it into the note.
0 Mike Vila 11 Posted June 17, 2022 Author Posted June 17, 2022 Thanks for responding PinkElephant. I did a search for 'table calculations' but nothing came up so I posted this. I tried to vote but it won't let me vote on my own request. I don't see a way to nest a spreadsheet. I can drag and drop the file, but not nest the actual Apple Numbers spreadsheet?
0 Level 5 PinkElephant 9,253 Posted June 17, 2022 Level 5 Posted June 17, 2022 It sort of depends on your client. The Mac desktop client can only open the numbers file, not show it inline. The Windows desktop client doesn't even know something like Numbers exist ... The iOS client can open the numbers file for display, but won't change it. Or it can open the file for editing, but not save it back to the same note. So no, it is not the same as a table in EN that would do its own math.
0 megamills 2 Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 I agree with you Mike - it would be handy to have tables be able to do simple calculations.

0 Mike P 3,425 Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 The ability to embed a spreadsheet into a note is now available for all users.

Right now, every time I bring an Excel doc into Evernote, it drops a non-editable embed in the note, but more like a flat image. If I change values inside columns A and B, the sums in column C don't refresh, and neither does changing the values in Excel will refresh the embed inside Evernote. Help! 🙂

Help! 🙂 By embedding the file you are creating a new copy of the file. Changing the original file will not change the file embedded into EN You cannot change the values directly in EN. To update the file you need to open it (e.g by double clicking the gray header area) and then change it in Excel. Saving the file will then update the file in EN and the preview should change.
