change email, verified new email, says account doesn't exist

Hi, I followed the instructions to change the email on my account, it sent a verification email to the new email address. When I clicked on the link in that msg to verify, I was prompted to log in - I entered the new email address (that I just verified) and it says "There is no account for the username or email you entered."  

I've tried this several times on different days. 

Any ideas?
