Saving Outlook email to Evernote not working

Recommended Posts

When clicking the Evernote icon in Outlook the add in asks me to subscribe or submit my credentials. The app then opens a IE 11 screen where I select my details. Directs to MS Edge and signs me in. However in OUtlook the Evernote window is not activated. The wheel keeps on spinning. The moment I close the IE11 window the Evernote app closes.

It looks that the Clipper in OUtlook is not connecting to Evernote.

From the technical support suggestions on the web I learned that the Evernote ADD IN under OUtlook must be checked. The add in is not available in this list. Then the suggestion is to reinstall the complete Evernote application? Where to me it is simply a connecting problem due to the recent frequent updates of Evernote?

Thanks for any help.

Nope. The suggested solution is correct but there is a need for an *.exe or *.dll file to install the add-in. The solution mentions to download the add-in from the Office store what not can be selected when pressing ADD in the add-in window.

Any suggestion regarding the above?

Thanks for your support @agsteele

Probably your Outlook version does not work with these older solutions. This in general is a good sign - you are then not running outdated software.

For users like me not running Outlook, we simply forward mails to our EN account that we want to save.

Ok with the older and newer versions of Outlook but what is the reasoning behind to have the Evernote icon sit in the menu bar of Outlook then?

Also as you can see the OneNote is available as well and has a number of interesting features. Like when saving the email one can simple copy the internal URL to the note and paste it in documents etc. Also personal comment can be added in the notes. All things that require additional steps when sending a note to the Evernote email address.

If it no longer works than Evernote should find a solution to delete the icon. Makes no sense to have the non-functional icon sit in Outlook, or am I mistaken?

If you want to use an old version of Outlook to save the EN button, go ahead.

If you want to use OneNote, go ahead.

Just don't think Outlook is the mail program people should use. In my personal opinion it is a piece of overloaded bloatware, entry point for malware through emails because it offers too much attack surface. So in fact I prefer to send email into EN (in fact I use a way of sending called Redirect, but this is only for those who may read the fine print).

Pink Elephant, just asking for support, that's all. And yes, as a gdpr specialist I'm used at reading the small print! And there is such a thing as company compliance forcing users to use particular software.

This discussion started if there was an issue with the E-button and a solution was known to users, that's all.

Thank you for your comments. I will setup a rule in Outlook and see how it goes!
