Why am I receiving multiple verification codes when I am not attempting to or  using the app??

You get the notifications most likely because somebody else tries to force his way into your account at that very moment, using your user and password. It is only the 2FA keeping him out at the moment:

Hint 1: Don't reuse passwords on different services. Change them everywhere, not only for EN.

Hint 2: Check if your account is listed in one of the many breaches that have happened to internet services - not to EN, but to others.
