Cannot create new note on Mac OS Big Sur 11.6 - help??

Hi there,

For nearly a month (and through 3 Evernote updates - currently on 10.22.3) I have been unable to create a new note in my desktop app. I've tried using the + button, Cmd+N, and File -> New Note. Instead of creating a new note, Evernote highlights the topmost note in the 'Notes' view of the app.

I am logged in one my Android phone and can create new notes there - these sync to the Mac desktop fine. I can edit notes on the desktop, and the Web Clipper is working to create new notes from both Safari and Chrome.

Please help 🙏🏼 I can't find a similar issue on the forums.

You could try this:
  1. Go to the Evernote menu, Preferences, and uncheck „Keep data when leaving“
  2. Log out of EN (File menu), quit EN (cmd-q)
  3. If you want to be very sure, restart the Mac
  4. Open EN, log back in, wait for it to run an initial sync.
If this doesn’t work, uninstall using the app AppCleaner, restart the Mac and install fresh from the EN website.

Hooray!! Thank you PinkElephant! This has fixed the problem.

I was able to drop a device which I couldn't find previously (the old Mac computer which died and I backed up the new computer from, but couldn't drop the Evernote login from!) and the process you suggested worked perfectly.

Really grateful for your help 😊 thank you for sharing your expertise.
