Reorder scanned pages while creating a new note

ChicagoGrl

Idea

I need to be able to drag and drop scanned (photo, auto) pages in the order in which I need them, rather than the order in which Evernote successfully scans them. Sometimes the scan quality is bad, and I need to scan the page over again. That leaves them in the order in which I have edited them, after likely deleting some of them, not the paginated order in which they might appear in a user manual, for example. I thought I was able to drag and drop pages so that they would be laid out in the order in which I needed them saved, but that doesn't happen. Either that or I've done it in another scanning app and Evernote just doesn't currently offer that function in this Android app.

Since EN does not create a continuous file from the scans, you can only reorder the pictures after they were imported to a note.

This is no problem with the desktop app, but quite clumsy on mobile.

An alternative is the Scannable scanner app offered by EN. I am just not sure if it is available for Android - for iOS it can be downloaded for free.

It has a postprocessing step where pages can be reorganized before uploading them to EN. They are loaded as one pdf file, not as individual pictures.

I use SwiftScan for similar page reordering, which is how I hoped to do it within Evernote. I'd rather not have to process the scan as a PDF or use another app, but I appreciate the idea. For now I will mark the note with a reminder and manipulate the pages in the desktop app when I switch to it on heavier input days.

I agree, this is annoying. As you may know, the legacy Android app allowed re-ordering and re-taking of scanned images prior to importing them into a note. I hope they bring back that functionality in the v10 app.

We agree it is clumsy on the mobile platform to rearrange the scanned pictures.

But opposite to other scanning solutions, EN creates a series of independent picture files, each representing a page, and is embedding them into the note. The scans can be reordered without a need to „crack“ a pdf file, better on a desktop than on a mobile device.

For iOS there is Scannable as an alternative to the integrated scanner. And for all mobile platforms there is a wealth of independent scanners, with a broad range of capabilities from plain scanning over advanced file operations ‚til full OCR capabilities and workflows.
