Code blocks are useless without proper formatting and highlighting.

Code blocks are useful to set text to a very simple formatting. I use it to store code snippets I may need in the future, not to actively work on code.

If you need code highlighting, use a specialised editor, and place the attachments into a note.

I use CotEditor on the Mac, works beautifully. But I wouldn't expect something so special integrated into a general note taking app (talking about bloatware).
