EN Update: No longer begins on start-up; Can't get it designated a start up in Windows 10

Recommended Posts

Since EN updated a few days ago, the seems to be no way to have Evernote begin at start up.  Preferences are gone.  When I tried to list it as one of my start up programs, Windows does not list it as one of the apps you can begin at start up.  I use it a lot and like having it ready to go when I open my computer.  Any workaround for this?  Why do updates seem always to create more work than improve a product? (sigh)

Yep - the usual Windows tango:

  • Log out and back in
  • Log out, restart and back in
  • Uninstall, restart and reload..

...And if all else fails it's pretty easy to create a manual entry in the startup folder in Windows - do an internet search for step-by-step instructions!

No idea if something took a wrong turn in the Windows registry.

Maybe try to log out and back in, sometimes this resolves problems.

Yeah, that didn't work.  Since Evernote has now removed this as part of their preferences, it just creates more work.

Use the standard Windows method of starting program at login...

Win+R
shell:startup
create a shortcut pointing to %LocalAppData%\Programs\Evernote\evernote.exe

Evernote 10 will start at log in to Windows... Not as simple as a checkbox in preferences but it achieves exactly the same thing.
