Is there a way to integrate the Apple Pencil sketch with other content on the page? I cant seem to figure out how to insert content to a sketch drawing that I am doing to add text that doesn't look like a 1st graders hand writing (yes mine 😀). If I'm drawing out a plan for wiring or path to follow that would be very helpful along with fixed shapes to grab and resize. Your kind guidance is most welcome.

Sketch is an own element in a note. It won’t overlap with other elements, like text or pictures.

You could try Penultimate as an alternative from EN.

Or the bunch of handwriting apps - personally I like and use GoodNotes 5.

The "other content" is text based, in enml/html format    
The Apple Pencil sketch is an image based sketch attachment file, displayed inline

I  use the Apple Pencil on my iPad with the Notability app   
It does a nice job of integrating  text and images   
I use the share menu to send the document to Evernote in pdf format
