6/30/21 iMac. Evernote version 10.16.7

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) - macOS Big Sur 11.4

Evernote was ok yesterday and for a long time before but suddenly after restarting Evernote I got a gray/white window with an error window in the center:

Something went wrong on our end, sorry about that. Please try restarting Evernote. Restart   Quit .

Neither choice does anything. I have to use Force Quit to quit Evernote. I have restarted Evernote on my iMac many times now always with the same result.

I logged in to my account at evernote.com and all my notes are there ok and up to date

THIS IS A DIRE SITUATION FOR ME. Obviously I cannot use the Evernote app on my iMac until I can fix this problem.

After Force Quit I get Console Crash log that starts:

This is not support !

We can’t do nothing about it, except sharing some ideas from user to user. I assume since you are on a Mac that there is no additional security software running on your system. If your firewall is active, disable it while trying to fix things.

First question: Have you yet logged out of your account on the Mac client, quit the client (cmd-q), restart it and log back in ?

Second chance: There is a switch in EN settings „Keep data on …“. Turn it off, then logout/quit/restart/login again.

Before trying the next options, log out of EN and cmd-q quit the client.

Third option (from another thread): There the router or something the ISP did caused the problem. Restart your router (usually by pulling the power cable) to get a fresh external internet connection.

4th: Go to the Macs settings, network as an admin, unlock it and renew the DHCP lease. This will reset your internal network connection with the router.

These 4 steps try to reestablish your connection to the EN server. If It helps, I don’t know. If it does, you can post here what did the job.

The next step means uninstalling the EN client. I use the app AppCleaner (free on the internet) to really purge all components. To do this you must check all entries in the uninstall window - part of them are by default not selected.

When reinstalling use the direct download from the EN website - don’t install from the AppStore.

Else there is support, via support ticket.

Thank you PinkElephant,

At your suggestion I used AppCleaner to uninstall Evernote and all its files.

I then downloaded the current Evernote v10.16.7 from the Evernote web site.

After installing and signing in Evernote now works again perfectly as before.

And thank you again.
