Why does pressing Return Key in bulleted list automatically increase line height in Chrome?

In Android Chrome, whenever I use a bulleted list and press the RETURN key to add a new bulleted line, Evernote automatically increases the line height of the next line.  I have to go into preferences and ”simplify formatting” every time I add a new line to avoid the frustration of seeing ever-increasing line heights as I type.  Is there a way to set "Simplify Formatting" (single line formatting) upfront for the entire bulleted list to avoid this frustration?  How do I set the note upfront to use single line formatting by default, especially in bulleted list?
