Code block adds additional new lines after copy/paste string

When i create code block and paste some text inside of it, 2 additional new lines are added before and after the text that was paste to code block.
When i copy part of the text inside code block, i do not want to add additional new lines like this:

 

[25lightyears 0]

I am having the same issue on macOS Big Sur. Pasting into a code block in Evernote inserts line breaks - pretty annoying.

Probably it is meant to surely add an empty line after each inserted element.

To bring this to the attention of EN (this is a user forum) the best way is to issue a support ticket.
