Hi, I need to filter for a note in one of two notebooks.

It appears that I can only filter in one notebook at a time or all notebooks at once, yet when filtering tags I can select these as needed.

Am I missing something here?

Maybe I need to Upgrade from version 10 to version 6 to get this type of cutting edge capability?

Appreciated

I think you would need to use the advanced search syntax in whatever version you used. If the two notebooks are called nb1 and nb2 then you need

any: notebook:nb1 notebook:nb2

Correction   Notebooks are excluded from the any: parameter

Documentation at https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313828

Since notebooks have exclusive relationships with notes, at most one notebook can be provided for the search.
The notebook is not included in the "union" created by the "any:" operator

edit; I work on a Mac with the Legacy version

Sorry but that is not my experience in V10. If I omit the any: I get

image.png.98b4dc62ddcf2577a8f7373c66a4b3bc.png

No notes found as no notes can be in more than one notebook

If I include any: I get

image.png.8d868939ef6fadeb133d4de156a12d55.png

Which is the correct number of notes for the two notebooks specified

Yes I read that but it appears that the documentation is out of date, unless you can come up with another explanation of why it works. It doesn't work in legacy but it does work in V10 Windows desktop or Web

Ok thanks.

So, lets say I have 3 notebooks...

nb1 and nb2 and nb3

and one tag called tag1

I would like to search for tag 1 in nb1 or nb2, but not nb3.............can I do this please?  If so how?

I've tried.....

tag:tag1 any: notebook:nb1 notebook:nb2

any: notebook:nb1 notebook:nb2 tag:tag1

The first of your options works for me on V10 (Windows 10.10.5 and the Web) but not in legacy. I notice that in your example you mention both "tag1" and "tag 1" although I'm sure it is just a typo.

Searching for all my notes containing the tag .TestTag

tag: .TestTag

Using the search

tag:.TestTag any: notebook:@inbox notebook:testExport
