(Archived) Too Many Searches

I guess I came up against a limit listed here:

Since saved searches are the only way to filter on the WAP interface https://www.evernote.com/m I have created 127 of them, so that I can filter out my notes on my mobile phone.

In my last flurry of creating save searches EN wouldn't sync them, with the sync error of "too many searches". It failed to sync about 27, so I'm guessing the limit is set at 100.

Please raise or eliminate that limit. (Is it abitrary? If so, it is inhibiting my functionality.)

Even better, please add tag filtering by dropdown menu to the WAP interface.

Even bester! Remove the limits... add dropdown tag filtering.

This raises another question. Is there a limit to the number of tags that can be created?

My solution is to post saved searches for quick reference in notes:

• Note name: My search examples for Evernote - bills search
  Note name: My search examples for Evernote - date / time search
  Note name: My search examples for Evernote - issues / things search
  Note name: My search examples for Evernote - places search
  Note name: My search examples for Evernote - people search
  

And I have a Saved Search called:

• Evernote - my search examples

Search criteria:

• Intitle:"My search examples"

This way, I have no limit. And my list of actual Saved Searches is limited to only frequently used searches.

The limits as I understand them:

• - 100 notebooks
  - 10,000 tags
  - 32 saved searches

Oh boy. Where do I begin. I've got hundreds of saved searches. Here are a few:

Note name: My search examples for Evernote - date / time search

Created (since)

• today = created:day
  yesterday = created:day-1
  this week = created:week (since Sunday)
  last week = created:week-1 (Since last Sunday)
  

Created (before)

• today = -created:day
  yesterday = -created:day-1
  this week = -created:week
  last week = -created:week-1
  

Created in August 2006

• notebook:personal created:20060801 -created:20060901

Created between 1st April 2008 and 31st March 2009

• created:20080401 -created:20090401

Note name: My search examples for Evernote - people search

Me (JLB)

• JLB -tag:"Fam-JLB"

Others

• notebook:Politics Pelosi -tag:"Pelosi Nancy"

The searches for people are a form of house keeping. I am looking for people I missed tagging with their name. If I plan on running several searches, I will copy the group of searches and pasted them into Notepad for quick access. Then it is just a matter of cutting and pasting into the Evernote search field to find any missing tags.

Great solution, and I can see employing something like that for the local client or web interface. I'll have to check it out.

However, WAP browsers (at least on my phone) don't allow for cut n paste, and even if they did, the EN WAP interface only allows searching via dropdown menu.

I'll just have to cut back on my save search list (I was probably getting a bit ambitious in anticipating my search needs any way.

I have folders for my classes that hold current have more the 100 notes, and it is useful, especially with the WAP interface to be able to filter those results.

I don't get why people need saved searches - Can't you just click "All Notebooks" and click the associated tag with the things you need? For example, School-Biology?

Searches can use more than tags for filtering a note list; for example, you can search for text, filter by date, filter by partial tag (e.g. 'tag:s*'), filter by attachment content, and so on. A saved search can capture all of that, and let you apply it in a single mouse click; very handy for commonly used searches.

Why?

How would you handle searching for:

A biology class note created during the 2008 school year; containing either the word frog or amphibian; and is in a PDF format?

and 2 weeks later:

A biology class note created during the 2008 school year; containing either the word hornet or "eusocial wasp"; and is in a PDF format?
