PDF annotations

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

has EN meanwhile enabled PDF annotation within a note? Sth a lot of users have been asking for for quite a while.

If not, recommendations for alternatives to Evernote are very much appreciated.

I just need some app, syncing notes accross all apple devices.

Simple requirements:

-annotations of PDFs JPEGs in notes possible (EN: no way obvious to me to do so),
-searchable for tag words,
-searchable for key words within notes,
-easy transfer of all notes from EN to new app,
-notes can be opened with Siri commands (doesn't work any more in SN)

Also the app provider should be profitable, so I can expect it to be around for another while 🙂

I guess/hope the above is not asking too much of any app I'm willing to pay money for.

Many thx in advance

DN

Where is your problem - you can annotate a pdf with EN:

Mobile client:

  • Open the note
  • Click on edit
  • Now click on the pdf. New symbols appear - click on the a in a circle. The pdf opens in annotation mode.

Desktop client:

  • Click on the pdf in a note
  • Click on the little pencil above the attachment - pdf opens in annotation mode

There are functions from the legacy client I am still missing in v10: Select a page, rotate it or delete it from the original pdf. Maybe they are going to add this by a later release.

Thanks for asking and for looking into it.

Here's the problem (with Evernote premium on iPad Pro w/iPad OS14.4 and latest EN update installed, I attached a sample):

1. I open the note (as advised by you), then

2. as advised I click on edit and can edit and annotate the note BUT not the PDF within it,

3. then I click on the PDF-file in the note. The PDF opens and fills the whole screen, but

4.  there's no edit option, neither are there circles, pencils or an annotation mode for the PDF itself

Most grateful for any hints,

best, D

These are the steps on my iPad:

Open the note, hit edit

Now tap on the attachment icon - it gets a blue border, and there are new tools above the soft keyboard. Click on the a in a circle.

Now the pdf opens in annotation mode. Tools are there (I have opened them bottom right, initially you see the arrow), and a preview of the pages (top left, you only see the little side arrow first). Currently there is no zoom, and no chance to rotate or delete pages from the pdf.

Note opened & in edit mode:

After tapping once right on the pdf attachment icon:

After clicking on the @  symbol, annotation mode opens:
