Evernote 10.8.5 won't start on macOS 11.2.2 MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Since a few days I am getting the following, when trying to open Evernote:

Something went wrong on our end, sorry about that. Please try restarting Evernote.

Clicking on either Restart or Quit will result in an endless loop and only force quit can close Evernote.

Are there any recommendation what to do or ETAs for a fix, if this is a more common problem.

I am a very longtime user of Evernote and this is the first time I have problems starting Evernote on my MacBook Pro. I assume it has to do with updating both versions to the lastes releases.

I know there are complaints from the past with similar problems, but I cannot find anything that discusses the current configuration:
