How to remove highlighting from searched term in notes

Recommended Posts

This might be an easy one for experienced users: When I search my notes for a particular term and then open a note, the searched term remains highlighted in green. Now that I'm in the desired note, I can't seem to turn off the highlighting on the searched word, which is annoying. If I delete the term in the search box, the opened note goes away.

Is there a way to click away or in some other fashion remove the highlighting from the searched term?

I hope someone has an easier solution for this issue.  The highlight does not show up on a printed note.

My clunky workaround is:

  1. Add a tag called temporary to the note that I want to work on.
  2. Then run a new search for tag:temporary to find the note. without the highlight.
  3. After working on the document, I delete the tag Temporary

Depends on what device you're using - I'm mostly on a desktop,  so I'd open the note in its own window and then zap the search term - the note gets pinned in place.

I only use Evernote with my desktop.

How do you open a note in its own window? I don't see any clues in the Evernote options.
