OMG - Could the Android app be any worse? Super Buggy. Can't believe it has been released?

Where to start? Soo many bugs. A super letdown. Terrible development. Here goes. 

1. When launching my android app - it pauses for 10 seconds saying the app is 'setting up' - This happens everytime!
2. When clipping from an web article or similar, Evernote launches, usual hang for 10 seconds on the 'Setting up' Splash screen' the web clipper box appears. The best part, TAGS are inherited from the last clip and there is no 'x' to remove them. You have to physcially select add tags, find the tags that you want to remove and uncheck the box. Nuts! Super poor UI. 
3. Finally and by no means least. Images don't appear in Evernote Android from the note screen. In the preview screen you see the thumbnail. When you acces the note an error is displayed next to an image file that says image can't be displayed? The web version / windows version displays the image not problem. 

This is very, very poor. The android app unusable!

Awful. The old version was poor but soo much better than this pile of buggy *****!

Sometimes the second problem happens on my phone, but i've never seen the first or the third. Could you report the bugs to evernote?

So not solved. Yes, I have reported the bugs. It's unbelievable how unusable this app has become! Very frustrating.

I wonder what the common denominator is. Many people seem to have few problems with the new apps, others report lag and missing notes and images and stuff.

I wish I knew. Everyday I encounter a new bug. Today, when I clip on Android, and Evernote has not been opened, Evernote opens and nothing happens? I have to re-clip to get the prompt box open. Nuts!

Is there any way to revert to older version?  I can't save anything at all in newest android update. Or rather, perhaps whatever I have "saved" by hitting the green arrow goes somewhere invisible and unreachable.

After having patiently waited for a solution, I am writing here for the first time.

Premium user.

Since the last update, all things android don't work anymore. I can't save any notes. It just doesn't work. No matter whether I'm sharing from somewhere or writing directly into the app. It just doesn't get saved. sometimes it guves you the impression it does, but nothing. The "right slide-save" from feedme doesn't work either.

Nothing works.

The app as such became unusable for me. I'll give it a few more days, then I am gone. Meanwhile warehousing notes on OneNote, just in case situation gets reverted.

I don't even know how many notes I lost due to other issues related to the new release, I started noticing about 8 days ago, but update was from January 14.

Plz fix this huge mess.

If there's any help to revert to earlier version, I'd be thankful.

I've reported 4 bugs so far. It's just unusable. Over 21K notes, premium member for many years. I simply can't use it anymore from Android. Switched to Google Keep, far more reliable. I 100% won't renew.

I have all the bugs above plus a new one: if i clip an image, it will create the same exact note, many many times. I used  to have that bug before,. It was solved. Now it is  back.

It is simply not good enough. I didn't pay premium to help Evernote resolve a plethora of bugs. I will not be resubscribing. I'm testing other options. The product is awful. Did I also mention, the desktop app also lages significantly. Never thought I would request installing an earlier version? Funny.

Hello there,

I encountered the same problem. Each time I wanted to save something from my android, it didn't appear in the notes. I cleared my cache and data in the app settings of my android app and after reconnecting to my account, I was able again to share articles to my evernote. Hope it can resolve your problem.

Thanks Koki, I really appreciate the advice. I've given up the ghost. I've tried sooo many things that just continually fail. This is abysmal service for something I invested in.

I'm already planning my exit strategy.

This hasn't been announced and is certainly not available to me yet.  I'm still on 10.4 which is what the appstore says is the most recent release. Did you get 10.5 as an auto update?

Actually, I don't find v10.4 buggy in any way. There is a definite slow start when I first open after rebooting my phone.  Thereafter the app opens quicker than I can get my finger ready for the next screen tap. Some widget function is still absent but this is noted and promisded as coming soon. v10.4 works better for a few things than the old version so all in all I'm much happier with the new app than the old.

Maybe its my device/OS version that works well with the new app. I cannot say why my experience is good compared to those that clearly experience issues.

V10.5 was auto update for me.

It takes me 5-6s for Evernote to load when it's erased from RAM. But I have to admit, that this is MUCH faster than when v10 launched. Then it took forever. But still, I think it should be even faster to load. It' definitely one of the slowest apps on my phone. Others take around 2-3s. I use it regularly so it's that much more annoying to always wait for it to load.

I'm genuinely happy that you have had a positive experience. For me, Evernote is simply unusable on Android for the reasons, and more, stated above. Desktop versions are still to slow. I'm off elsewhere. There are cheaper and more reliable services out there.

I also looked for other services, but non are like Evernote. Most of them are just for note taking. I want to be able to also add things/files (pictures, .zip, PDF ...) to notes. Any suggestions?

If you looking for an Evernote made by others then you will need to accept some compromises... But Joplin seems promising, if you accept some differences.  OneNote by Microsoft, or Notion (although not distraction free due to the feature bloat they introduced).

Or look at your whole process of collecting, archiving and get productive and choose the best tool for the job... Evernote is somewhat a One-Stop-Shop in note-taking, archiving, searching.... but some tools are better in a single thing. Evernote was unique in best of the worlds, but per feature some are better.

If you want one tool, is is hard to find a better Evernote based on the pre v10 version (legacy)...  But with V10.. nuff said..

I can't save websites on my phone.

I can't "right-slide save" items in FeedMe (less of an issue, but it was a part of my daily routine)

And today I tried to scan a document = it doesn't save it! Neither in the form of a document, nor as a photo, which I also tried.

This is totally f---ed up. I know I am not the only one. If it was a free app = fine, but I am paying for it!

I'm sorry to hear the difficulty you're facing. It won't help you to know that I save a webpage to Evernote most days and I was just able to successfully scan and photograph a document.  So something strange has happened for you.

I appreciate that you have a Premium sub but, as you know really, the app is free - you could get as bad an experience without paying. Because I feel technically competent, I would revert to the old version of Evernote by grabbing the apk file from apkmirror. I know others don't trust this process or feel uncertain.  But that would seem to be your best bet until the app settles down. You'll get everything you are familiar with and can update once you are more certain of things working for you.

I've been using the app for a decade. I came to terms with them not having been able to develop a linux app (i know there are alternatives, but in no way comparable to the windows app) but i had a good workflow.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 9, so there's no way my phone isn't performant enough.

I just don't want to download an apk from a third party site (I did it in the past on old phones, but this one stays clean).

I regularly had a look at all those "evernote-killers", but none came close to what i wanted. But if it is like it is now, I can just as well pay a subscription elsewhere. Notion has an evernote import tool. No linux desktop app neither, but well..

FWIW, a Linux application is in beta at the moment.

I kept a copy of the previous version of the apk so I don't have to grab it from apkmirror so I do have confidenceshould I have to revert.  But as noted v10.5 is working for me. Have you raised a support ticket as a Premium user?

I know exactly how you feel. I can't believe I paid for this crapp. I'm testing another option now. Not easy getting 22k notes off.

As it is, I don't use Feedly. Scanning works fine on my phone (I use it daily and I've never had a problem). I don't think I've ever tried to save a webpage to Evernote from my phone. If this doesn't work for you, why don't you open a bug report?

I ended by suggesting that as this isn't a uniform experience that a support ticket was the way forward. Otherwise my suggestion is a workaround. Not suggesting that this is the way it should be but that if a user has an issue which isn't experienced by everyone then reverting could get them back on the road without continuing the hassle.  Should it be necessary? No. Might it help for a more peaceful use whilst the app is improved? Possibly.
