If you get yourself the app AppCleaner, it will show you all components of an app, and let you decide which to remove.

If you stop there, you can run a backup first. Or confirm all findings to remove the data base as well, and go ahead.

From official sources you will probably not be able to reinstall 6.8 - the legacy version for the Mac is 7.14.
