Version 10.5.7 - Can't access notebooks from main view

Ever since I updated to this version several weeks ago, I get an error about 75% of the time when I click on my notebooks on the left hand side (see first picture).

It displays this error (second picture).

The workaround I'm using is clicking on the notebooks tab to display all notebooks in full screen. Then I navigate to my desired notebook from there. I'm able to access all my notebooks, but it takes longer and is very frustrating.
