Today we are releasing Evernote for Mac 10.5.6 (v 10.5.6 build 2168). This is a big release, with lots of improvements both under the hood and functionality-wise. Below the release notes I’ve included slightly deeper descriptions for some of the functionality new to this release. Additionally, we’ve also added a new item to “coming soon”: email a note while sharing. It is available now via the Mac App Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. New to Mac 10.5 - Access the keyboard shortcuts reference menu via the Help menu or by using the shortcut CMD + / Keyboard shortcut for creating a tag and an application menu entry point Tags can now be created in the edit tags pop-up menu Performance improvements for note loading, the sidebar, and attaching files Log files can be zipped and the smaller file size allows for easier emailing of logs to our support team Toggle on/off the recent notes section in the left nav Navigating the note list with your arrow keys is now more seamless and loads the editor automatically. Hitting enter takes you into the note. Hitting cmd + enter opens the note in a new window. Navigate to the top/bottom of the note list with the function + down/up arrow keys New note merge options added: separate note content with a divider or keep original note titles When you merge notes, the original notes are automatically placed in the trash unless you select "Keep copy of original notes" Tags are now a whole, scrollable part of the left navigation menu (not the scroll within a scroll) “Located in” filter is now available from the filter menu in All Notes Fixed highlights: Delay when copying an internal link Some keyboard shortcuts would not work when the note editor is selected Users now receive email notifications immediately when a note is shared with them Coming soon: Email a copy of a note via the share button Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (CMD+J) Create new audio recordings and playback audio file Dragging and dropping note links directly into your note Global keyboard shortcuts Additional export options Import folder Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We will keep hard at work! Thank you! -------- The keyboard shortcuts menu With Evernote V10 we’ve heard a lot of great feedback regarding missing or changed keyboard shortcuts. We still have some work to do here and will continue to add new shortcuts. To help with both discovery of new and old shortcuts, we’ve added a keyboard shortcuts menu (available in 10.5 via CMD + /). Our goal with the menu was to improve discoverability and in particular enable the opportunity for experimentation with the keystrokes that are available. Additionally we aimed to highlight the inline capabilities of the editor--you can find those in the last section of the keyboard shortcuts menu. Please try it out and experiment in the ways you can use V10's keyboard shortcuts. Merging just got better With V10 we enhanced merging by enabling you to reorder and selectively pick from merged notes. With this latest version we’ve enabled the ability to select optional line breaks and titling within the merge, as well as add a unique title to your merged note. This means for a cleaner merge experience that you can tailor a bit more closely to your liking. Additional ways to create tags We’ve been taking a close look at how we can improve the whole tagging experience for customers who work heavily with them. Making it easier to create tags with a keyboard shortcut, application menu option, and adding create tag to type ahead suggestions in the edit tags menu is a start. More to come. 15 5 2 4 Link to comment
