Mac App launches in unresponsive state

1. I tried executing the following search "notebook:python if".
2. The app immediately became unresponsive.
3. After a few seconds, I got a message to Keep Waiting or Relaunch.
4. I clicked Relaunch.
5. The app comes back up in the same unresponsive state.

I'm in an endless loop. How do I get out of it? Is there a launch flag I can use to come back up in a safe mode or something?

I don't know if my search has anything to do with it. I'm not an Evernote search pro. Maybe if is a reserved word. But I can run the same query in the web app without any problem.

I am running version 10.1.7 build 458354.
