fuchsfr 12
What compelled Evernote Corporate to release this new UI with so many missing features? As a Offering Manager myself I know about releasing Minimum Viable Products (MVP) for quick feedback. But, I also know when something like is happening it means that the corporate goals have shifted and I may no longer be a target customer. Sometimes you make more money supplying a solution to 90% of basic users, that require less staff and resources. Making yourself more profitable does not always line up with your most passionate user advocates. So What I have to ask is: What is your Strategic Direction EVERNOTE? Do you intend to have feature parity? Productivity parity? From where I stand this release hangs all the time, lacks features, and should be labeled as a Beta (and that is stretching the term). And if I am not part of your target demographic, have the courtesy to please let me know, so I can start to explore my exit strategy. 5 Link to comment
gy145 3
sounds like they have a new manager don't know that he/she is doing. I never need to go to forums for any help using evernote before! Now with the new version, I get lost and have to go to here for issues the new version made. This is OK for free software, but not for paid one if evernote want to really earn money in the future. 1 Link to comment

Not to be too nitpicky, but Evernote technically is free. Anyone can use it. I know that it doesn't make it any less frustrating, but I think it is an important distinction. Link to comment
fuchsfr 12
Last time I went to the Forums was June 2016 when I complained that Hashtag prefix # was not properly processing as a mail submitted tag. They told me it was reserved even though the rest of the world treats it as in line Tagging. But that was it. 4 years ago and not a single complaint about anything since. Not sure it is new management. Had some problems 2 years ago... this might be a delayed reaction to all that.https://techcrunch.com/2018/09/04/evernote-lost-its-cto-cfo-cpo-and-hr-head-in-the-last-month-as-it-eyes-another-fundraise/ Link to comment

But for a paid user like me, that made it a strategic platform for work across multiple devices. It's legitimate to criticize this version. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 5,529 Posted November 18, 2020 Level 5 Share Posted November 18, 2020 IMHO any user can complain - why not ? You don’t buy the right to complain, by going Premium you buy the right that somebody listens and even answers to your complain. Disclaimer: The answer will currently take a few days, chat is down, chaps in support are in general nice and listening, but don’t have much to offer. Not their fault I think, so be nice yourself when you talk to them (finally). On one of my last tickets concerning some observation in Mac legacy I got the advise that sorry, no support on this, but I could upgrade to v10. This made my day ! So even if we are Premium, when we decide to use the legacy client to keep on using EN, we are downgraded to BASIC, supportwise, but they still take our money. Or we stay full Premium because we use that „upgrade“, that will stop us cold in may ways when we try to work, but we get support on it. Support these days is mostly „we put it on to the list“, but we are allowed to pay for the privilege to put things on the list. WOW ! Conclusion: Everybody can complain. And there are now ways to go to BASIC (supportwise) and keep on paying. So more to complain about ! 1 1 Link to comment

Yes, well. At the very same time, they've stripped out the ability to export, so that's how they're addressing that. I really hate paying money to companies that clearly think I owe them something rather than the other way around. Link to comment

Enteecee 22
I admit I was a bit panicked for a bit: I opened up v10 for something simple, and it just didn't work. Not a bug, like notes not loading - it was just slow, and my organization was all thrown off. I thought the new version must have restored settings to default, and softly grumbling I tried to restore them, but couldn't find any of the basics. Then... no preferences? Surely it's all just hidden somewhere. Came on here to figure it out and was shocked and kinda horrified at reading confirmation of all that's been lost. Among the many things I'd confirmed for myself, I read no local storage and no export and panicked before checking. @DTLowThanks to you and @gazumped, I'm back on Legacy and breathing a lot easier. For now I don't even care whether v10 exports - but I'm reminded of how far out of the habit I got of running exports. That's something I'll definitely be picking back up now! 1 Link to comment
