How can I make sure that Evernote desktop on my Mac Catalina 10.15.7 will never automatically upgrade to version 10 ?

I am happy with version 7 and fear version 10 like the plague.

I could cancel automatic updates for all apps but that would be a major pain in the neck.

Instead of the App Store, I installed the direct download from Evernote    
Auto-update is an option in Evernote > Preferences
