Stacks - Notebooks - Notes

I have always loved Evernote but something has changed that is of concern.  Please help.  
I have multiple stacks.  Within each stack there are notebooks within these notebooks there are notes.  Now, when I click on a given stack all I see is all of the notes. These notes are  no longer arranged in the notebooks. I am lost. Please advise.

Don't click on the stack   
Click on the caret icon to show notebooks
