Photos disappear when I edit the note?

I thought that evernote saved images in notes within evernote?

I am using it to catalog a collection photographing each item and creating a note in the notebook for that item. Once I have added it to evernote though, I have been deleting the photo from my phone's camera gallery as I wont need it again. When I do that, the image is there, shows up on my phone and syncs to the pc in evernote great.

But as soon as I edit the note, the photo disappears and cannot be found. I want to add text details to each note but need the photos to stay!

Is the a setting I am missing to make the photos save with the notebook?

OS of phone

OS of desktop / or do you use the web client 

How do you move the Photo to the note ?

Do you close the note before moving to the next photo ?

I have many notes with images and adding text details is not an issue

Make sure you're not overwriting the image with your edit
