Re: Evernote 3.5.6.2883--blindingly fast searching at last!

Hi,

Using Evernote, I'm still rather green. It seems that everyone is talking about Evernote 3.5.6.2883. Did I miss something ?

The version I'm running is 1.11.0 for Mac. It takes a very long time to load and is making other applications run very slowly. On occation, if I'm adding a note or two, Evernote will just quit as if it can't handle any additional files.

Also, in my applications folder I have three Evernote icons. The 1st is just the icon. Below it and the 2nd is the icon along with (70263) beside it. Below it, is a 3rd icon, with (92738) beside it.

If anyone could help me with these issues or assist with understanding the 3 icon situation, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Kenneth

I followed his instructions, and apprehensibly deleted the two oldest Evernote applications, leaving all but the most recent upgrade/version, 1.11.0. I then emptied my trash which then contained over 100,000 files which took some time. I waited until the trash was emptied, shut down my Mac, waited for a few minutes and rebooted. As soon as I launched Evernote, it was back to where it had been in the past, which was lightning fast. Since that time, it has been working fine. That said, I am beginning to notice it take longer to load each time and longer for the files to convert.

It appears that it can't handle as many fies as I have saved, which is to-date, approximately 900 files. I'm not sure what will happen next, though in answer to your question, what enberg suggested worked. For now, I will wait to see what happens next.

I hope this has helped !

I would recommend that you quit Evernote from the elephant icon in the menu bar.

Then delete all copies of the Evernote application on your computer and empty them from your trash to make sure that the wrong code isn't running. Reboot your Mac.

Then, download and install a fresh new copy of the latest version from:

We're doing a lot of big stuff for both performance and usability, plus adding two major features that people have been demanding for a while, so it's a pretty big project. I won't be comfortable on a date until I see it running on my machine, but we do plan to do some external beta testing long before the final release.

Thanks

If you delete our application, that doesn't delete your local database. Your local database is stored in a different place on your computer, not in the Applications folder. Plus, your notes are also synchronized to our servers for backup unless you put them in a Local-only notebook on the Mac.

1.11.0 is the current version.
