(Archived) How long does it take for Evernote to recognice pdf's text?

It's a 30 mb pdf file. It's been 20 minutes and there has been no change.

Premium users get priority. Usually takes them less than 3 minutes.

Free users wait until the servers are not busy, so the wait can be longer.

Be sure to sync to get the file sent to Evernote and sync a 2nd time later on to retrieve the OCR version.

First, make sure that the document doesn't already contain searchable text. I.e. if you open it in Preview and try to "Select All" and "Copy", do you get a clipboard full of text from the original PDF? If so, we won't do any OCR on that document.

If the PDF is more than 30MB, it may be too large, and may have caused problems with our OCR solution. In particular, I think we only expect scans of up to 100 pages.
